Have an adventure in the Cotswolds
Private hire & a wedding venue in the heart of Gloucestershire
Melksham Court sits nestled on the side of a Cotswold escarpment in the village of Stinchcombe. This unique miniature estate is exquisitely situated, facing West, framed in mature parkland, sheltered by wooded hills above. This ancient hamlet, which dates back to the 12th century, consists of a number of farm buildings surrounding a principle manor house.
The house itself is predominantly 17th century much of it having been burnt down during the civil war although parts are believed to be from around 1360. It is purportedly the birthplace of William Tyndale, who translated the bible into English. Yet while steeped in history, it provides a lavish 21st century amenity, an ideal place for large groups of up to 30 to come and stay, relax and play, party, and use as a base explore all the Cotswolds have to offer.
“
The main house at Melksham Court features a large country kitchen complete with range cooker, Cotswold stone floor, French style table seating 10 people, and a 120ft well dating from the thirteenth century.
Tucked behind the kitchen there is a cosy snug with fireplace and LCD TV. From here stone steps lead you through to the Jacobean-panelled dining room with an ornate Tudor fireplace. This impressive room can seat up to 16 people for dinner.
Following through the main hall of the house, there is a cosy sitting room with a huge inglenook fireplace with wood burner and TV. Off this is the more formal panelled drawing room with stone insert wood burner.
On the first floor there are 4 double bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms. On the second floor there is a fun children’s bedroom sleeping up to 9 and the master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite. The dressing room can also be shut off from the master to provide an extra bedroom which shares a bathroom with the children’s room.
WiFi is available throughout the main house.

Private woodlands
Ancient paths carved into the hillside allow walkers to get lost in the beautiful woodland that flanks the Cotswold Way.
Predominantly beech, ash and oak but with some mature elms, the woods are spectacular in the spring when covered in a blanket of wild garlic and bluebells, and breath-taking in their autumn glory.
Absolutely private with no public foot paths, the woods play host to all types of wildlife you would expect to see in a mixed deciduous wood and a few you would not! The paths lead you gently up the hill considering the gradient and eventually arrive at gated access to the renowned Stinchcombe Hill golf course and the Cotswold Way.
